At Ensoul we’re thrilled to learn that our customer BAM – Biblioteca Degli Alberi di Milano is the winner of the 13th edition of the Dubai International Best Practices Award for Sustainable Development. It’s a prestigious award and we’re proud to have contributed with our website.

In detail, the BAM website has been built using technologies that significantly reduce its environmental impact. It uses carbon-neutral servers1, which means that the electricity consumption is offset by other initiatives aimed at reducing the CO2 emissions generated by their use. It also uses software infrastructures that minimize page loading times, reducing the electricity consumption of both mobile network systems and the wear and tear on users’ smartphones.

The data shows that the annual energy savings for the homepage alone, for 10,000 visitors per month, is equivalent to a 400km plane flight or 825km by car.

The BAM website is also strengthening its accessibility criteria to be compatible with all types of visual and non-visual impairments, simplifying the user experience and adopting optimized readability and contrast criteria.

We strongly believe in creating sustainable, accessible websites and we’re partnering with associations and structures that promote and enhance such beliefs.

Technical jargon:

  1. Carbon-neutral: Having a net-zero carbon footprint. ↩︎
